The Do Something Different weekend was a weekend free events and workshops across the Barbican Centre. The weekend was named after the Barbican strap line. The International Exhibitionist was invited to contribute to the Late Night Do Something Different which took place on (and around) the Club Stage, on the Barbican foyer (level-1). The foyer is at the intersection of the Concert Hall and the main Theatre. The Late Night was designed for audiences leaving the 2 Barbican theatres, the concert hall, cinemas and art galleries, but also to attract a separate audience of its own. Within the context of this evening event, taking place at the Barbican with it’s own particular architectural and cultural identity as a multi-art centre, the International Exhibitionist invited artists and writers to responded by email to the strap line: do something different. The contributions were edited into two slide shows that played throughout the evening on plasma screens in the foyer and regularly on the main screen of the Club Stage between performances and contemporary artists’ video screenings. |
